Whenever we ask my daughter to do something at home, or tell her she isn’t allowed to do something, she questions us. We answer and she has another question. She wants to really understand why she’s doing what she’s doing. This can be challenging as a parent, but also made me wonder why I don’t question things more.
Covid changed everything in every way. Mid-last year I began wondering if I was really running by business in a way that was in alignment with my values and goals. I had developed creative strategies for over 140 buyers and sellers and I felt deeply that it was time to take things to the next level.
I was working for a fantastic brokerage and I knew that there was nothing better than it with the big name brokerages. I awaited a sign on what my path forward could be with outrageous openness.
Three days later I was approached by Side, the only real estate technology company that exclusively partners with high-performing agents and teams to transform them into market-leading boutique brands and businesses. They offered me the opportunity to open a brokerage in my hometown of Alameda and I did not hesitate. It was meant to be.
In life I strive to strike the balance between being grateful where I am and being tenacious in discovering ways things could be even better. And here I am. Thanks for being a role model to me, Aubrey Cusack.
