Harbor Bay Isle in Alameda is a well kept Bay Area secret. When we speak to buyers many people emphasize the importance of neighborhood, community, school, parks, outdoor activities. The area of Alameda that is “off the island” has long been known as Bay Farm Island and the newer area of homes that is closer to the bay is referred to as Harbor Bay Isle.
The area featuring the first homes built in this area have many blocks of homes that are not in an HOA (Homeowner’s Association). Many of them are single story and have beautiful outdoor space.
The newer homes are on the Harbor Bay Isle side. Most of these homes were built in the 1980s. Except for a few, these are “track homes” and were built with modern livability in mind. Most have large closets, several bedrooms on one level, “great rooms”, an ensuite bathroom off the primary bedroom, and attached 2 car garages. Since these homes were built not too long ago, we find that the condition is still quite good when looking at inspections. Many have already been updated, but even those in original condition—with the tiled and grouted countertops and brass fixtures throughout the house—offer buyers the chance to purchase and move it and upgrade over the time they live there.
There are 2 schools nearby. Amelia Earhart is a K-5 school and Bay Farm School is K-8. Both are high scoring schools and have a high percentage of kids that walk or ride bikes to school.
There is also a shopping area and many miles of walking trails around the many lagoons as well as along the Bay Trail.
There’s even a Golf Course – Chuck Corica – which offers 3 different courses.
For some people, planned communities like you will find on Harbor Bay offer an easy breezy lifestyle where people of all ages can enjoy the outdoors!
