Youth Golf in Alameda: by Brody Cusack

Youth Golf in Alameda: by Brody Cusack
My son plays Varsity Golf at a local High School and here’s what he has to say about Golfing in Alameda:

There’s a great golf course in Alameda on Harbor Bay called Chuck Corica Golf Complex. It has three courses to play on. The Par Three course is nine holes and only has par three holes. For any beginners out there, this is a great place to start. The South Course is a regular 18-hole course. And the North Course is a regular golf course, but it’s only 9 holes.

I started playing golf with my dad when I was about 3. We have always loved to go out on the greens together.

I have a membership for ‘Youth On Course.’ That membership allows golfers under the age of 18 to play golf completely for free after 4 pm. This applies to any golf course that is compatible with the Youth On Course membership. My Summer break just started and I played a round of golf with some of my friends yesterday at Chuck Corica which is very close to where we live. Yesterday, my friends and I played the North Course starting at 4:15pm. It’s great this time of year because it’s still light out until 8pm. Those playable nine holes have very recently been refurbished and remade, and I’ve really only been playing on that course. The tenth to eighteenth holes on that course are in the process of being refurbished and redone and I look forward to playing them when they’re ready! The South course will be redone once the North course is finished. Really in order to play on these courses for free you can just show up, sign a paper and verify your membership, and you’re good to go. It’s really easy to set up a time, too, because no one really plays a round of golf after 4 pm. I’m really grateful that there’s a much easier option to enjoy golfing as a kid and that there are so many courses to choose from!
